Hidden Histories: the untold histories of New Forest towns and villages .......
Towns and villages across the New Forest share a wealth of fascinating and sometimes undiscovered history within their buildings. From the grand Georgian facades of Lymington High Street, to the hidden salt cottages on Keyhaven marshes and the burial site of Alice Liddell in St Michael and All Angels Churchyard, Lyndhurst. there are stories still to be told. Someone in the community is likely to have memories, or maybe photos or artifacts which reveal the story. The Solent Centre for Architecture + Design aims to unearth this 'hidden history' and engage the community in contributing to provide new interpretation resources. Initially the programme will focus on Brockenhurst, Lyndhurst and Lymington and we are currently looking for organisations or individuals who would like to contribute. If you would like to take part, click on education and hidden histories to find out more.
