Teacher Training

The Education Partner Programme has been established to create a teacher facilitated approach to exploring ways that the designed built environment can be used for enhancing the delivery of the school curriculum and developing professional practice. It also provides opportunities for teachers to come together and share good practice and work collaboratively.  This programme is focused on you the teacher and designed to give you the skills and confidence to deliver built environment education through the curriculum and through extra-curricular activities.

Courses previously run:

Buildings for Learning

Landscapes for Learning

Learning through sustainability

Learning through Public Art and Placemaking

Who should attend?

The workshops provide a complete introduction to the built environment, sustainability and using the landscape, and explore why this topic is important, how it can be used and how to embed it in your teaching practice.  The workshops will be very much hands-on and will involve you developing your own work schemes and action plans. Everyone attending will receive a comprehensive work-shop manual and toolkit to keep.  They are designed to enable you to develop the content for your particular subject area or age group.  Teachers from the following areas may find them particularly useful:

Design and Technology     Art and Design     Geography     PSHE     Citizenship     Environmental Studies

Jeff Stansfield, HIASS Geography Inspector has worked with the Solent Team on this training package and wholeheartedly recommends it to teachers interested in utilising the built environment in their teaching practice.

 How much do they cost?

Please contact Mark Drury (mark@spudgroup.org.uk) for prices.  The course are tailored for secondary, primary or student teachers.
