design initiatives

The Solent Centre for Architecture + Design engages with partners in many varied project and initiatives.  Here are some we are currently involved with:

New Forest Tree House - A unique treehouse study centre which is sited amongst the ancient woodland at the Countryside Education Trust in Beaulieu. The study centre is a valuable resource for younger people and local community groups and provides classrooms and shelters which are a model of sustainable design.

24 hours to save ...... Winchester!  - Multi-disciplinary teams of architects, engineers, planners, artists and design students are invited to come together to explore and design a sustainable city by the year 2020.  The event will start with a briefing for all teams after which they have 24 hours to come up with a proposal which they will present to an audience comprising other teams, local dignitaries and public at midday on the following day.  After the presentations a prize will be awarded for the best design.
